Revolutionary 1000+ KM Range Electric Car Battery by Nio: A New Era in EV Technology

A Chinese electric car manufacturer has tested a battery that can provide power to a vehicle for more than 1000 kilometers on a single charge.

During a 14-hour live stream, William Li, the CEO of the Shanghai-based company Nio, tested the battery by driving the ET7 vehicle for 1044 kilometers. This means the car was driven from Zhejiang Province to Fujian Province at an average speed of 84 kilometers per hour.

In a separate test (which was not broadcast), it was observed that the battery covered a distance of 1145 kilometers.

William Li wrote in a post on the Chinese social media platform Weibo that this battery currently has the highest energy density in the world and its safety performance is excellent. Moreover, all vehicles available for sale can be upgraded to a 150-kilowatt-hour capacity using Nio's battery swap system.

Nio has employed an unconventional approach to charging vehicles, using a battery swap system instead of having to plug the car into an outlet.

This system, installed in vehicles, can replace an empty battery with a fully charged one in less than three minutes.

Consumers can buy a car without a battery and use batteries from Nio's network by paying a monthly subscription fee.

In November, Nio announced that the company had provided more than 32 million battery swaps to its customers through its network of over 2000 power swap stations.

Nio plans to start mass production of this battery from April 2024.
